Wandelroute - Meerssen - Romeinse schatkamer van Meerssen

In the center of Meerssen you are surrounded by history. The old Basilica, the Proosdij Park and the monumental station buildings: you can admire them all during this walk. Yet the history of Meerssen goes back further than is visible above ground. This walk passes places where the Roman history , sometimes buried just below ground. Ever since the 19th century, people have been looking for Roman remains in Meerssen. You will come across the successes, sites of Roman villas, statues of gods and the probable route of the Via Belgica. Please note, this route is not signposted.
