Kasteel Vliek Ulestraten

The original house was built around 1725 in the Louis XIV style. Only a few old walls on the wing near the park remain of this oldest building. Behind the main building is a beautiful courtyard enclosed by a castle farm, one wing of which contains a coach house. Adjacent to the house is a park with two ponds, created in the early 20th century as an embellishment of an older landscape park from circa 1800.

One of the ponds has an island in the middle. There is also a bathhouse, an ornamental bridge and a sundial in the park. The original castle was first mentioned in 1374 under the name Huize de Dael and was inhabited by the knightly family Van Vlieck. Their castle would have stood on the island in the current pond.
